Why It Matters

Our work directly supports many of the priorities of our communities:

Public Safety

Successful reentry reduces recidivism and helps create safer communities.

Workforce Development

Employment support connects motivated individuals with opportunities while helping local employers address workforce needs.

Housing Stability

Early intervention and support reduce the likelihood of homelessness and crisis situations.

Family Support

We help families navigate incarceration and reentry, strengthening support systems and improving long-term outcomes.

Community Engagement

Our art program creates opportunities for public exhibitions, storytelling, and community connection while showcasing transformation and accountability.

Who We Are

Still Human is a Reno-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals successfully transition from incarceration back into the community.

Inside-Out Reentry Model

Our model begins before release, allowing us to build trust, identify barriers, and create individualized plans while participants are still incarcerated. Upon release, we provide immediate stabilization services including employment support, transportation, communication access, clothing, mentorship, and community connection.

Purpose Through Creation

We operate an art initiative that provides incarcerated artists with a positive outlet, opportunities for recognition, and a pathway to contribute to their communities and families.

Voices of Impact

These are real words from the people whose lives this movement has touched.

"All you have done with your story and explaining why you do what you do has motivated me to be more involved in this project. Thank you for that. It is an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to work alongside someone with the goal of helping others move forward with a voice."
— Kevin Taylor
"I was just re-watching your podcast and I just wanted to take a second to let you know what I was feeling after watching it. I know that we don't exactly know each other on a personal level, but I want to take a moment to tell you how much it means to me that you and Noelan see our humanity and give those of us that need it the recognition that we ARE still human and deserve to be treated as such and given a chance at redemption. Our worst mistake should not define who we are known as for the rest of our lives, and you guys are trying to help others with that. I don't know how much the two of you and your son actually hear it, but I want you to know how much I personally appreciate what you are trying to do. You make me want more than ever to be able to pay it forward as soon as I am given the opportunity. From the bottom of every piece of my heart, thank you."
— Kevin Taylor
"The longer you're locked up the more you lose sight of who you are, your identity is lost in the years… When I was told by Lanae that someone had bought a hoodie with the image of something I had drawn on it I practically cried. I felt like this was why God put me on earth, art. I had purpose again… I can still bring joy to others through art. Thank you for giving me that chance, all of you."
— Anthony Echols, January 2, 2026
"I've listened to him talk about his experience numerous times with different people and it never ceases to amaze me just how much it resonates with folks from all walks of life in here. Personally, I feel a lot of hope coming from this movement and the people involved. Maybe the world is finally ready to accept us as we are, flawed yet, STILL HUMAN!"
— Kody Patten, January 31, 2026
"Wow, that sounds amazing… I admire what u guys are on and any way I can help you, people in here out there, whatever I will do my best, anything to make a difference… I know ur goal and admire what u do and appreciate the opportunity for real!"
— Jerome Kelly
"The fact that you are so hands on with the guys you are helping blows me away. I've been locked up nearly my whole life. From 12 to 18 in the juvenile system and from 18 to 54 now, I have never seen a program like yours who works with the other programs out there… Knowing your program is out there and willing to help is amazing. It's also nice meeting and having new friends who are just trying to do right by people they do not even know. I'm glad to know you both."
— Albert Dawson, April 25, 2026
"Just got finished watching the podcast! Words can't express how much what you're doing for us means to me!! I've been in prison my whole life because I was never given a fair chance! I was always thrown right back in the streets to fend for myself! So I want you to know that you're helping make a lot of our lives better now but I know that you will definitely change my life for the better!! Knowing that I'm not alone is powerful!!!!!!! Cause I'm not shy to say I'm scared to death to get out after 25+ years!!! It's not the same world anymore! So thank you! To be seen for the human means the world!!!!"
— Jason Burkhart
"Good morning! Holy cow what a relief it is to talk to you guys. Thank you so much for helping her and putting your phone number on my account. They took my legal paperwork where I had all my phone numbers written down, I only had my moms memorized. This place is pretty horrible, y'all weren't lyin. I don't have a cell mate, so I suppose it could be worse. But you helping her getting some funds in here for me is amazing. I'm so glad I don't have to do this like Sean and Noelan did. Thank you for those nature videos. When I watched those this morning was the first time I cried. I appreciate you all so very much, I wish I could accurately put it into words."
— Lucas Russell, March 27, 2026
"Hey now!! So, I just finished watching the entire podcast. I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride on a deeply personal level, while also feeling the pride you two have being on this wave that is taking you both to places never imagined. Moreover, you already told me how your son essentially had a vision from day one to put something momentous together, but hearing it and watching everyone's reaction really touched me. I can only imagine how proud you are of him, and him of you. A mother's love is among the most remarkable things in the human experience. I bow to you. I think both of you did great. The visuals and the conversation truly relayed the message of what our company is about and, I assure you, the language but more particularly, the terminology Noelan used, will undoubtedly resonate with Convicts nationwide. That makes everything come across so authentic. The two of you have been captured in history."
— Arthur Beraha
"Watching the podcast I got excited seeing one of my pieces dead center of the screen and had to pause the video when Bethanie Fierro said she bought one of my designs to yell, 'F#¢king winning!' Out of the past couple of weeks, especially my last couple of days, I feel like my art & myself have finally been represented. I actually cried. Thank you. & good to know I'm not the only white guy with dreads here. Lol."
— Alexander King, April 25, 2026
"I told them my good friend Lanae & her man are on Edovo. I even took their tablets & logged them on myself. I love the story behind your encounter with Noelan that led to your relationship… I'm so happy for you! You did good with Noelan, damn you are fucking amazing! Your voice matches your personality. I love your energy, your drive & your passion. Who are you? WW, Wonder Woman :) nah, I take that back, cause Wonder Woman ain't got shit on you! You're the real Wonder Woman, Wonder Lanae 'WL' — that shit sounds way better!"
— Michael Cu
"Hi, so I just finished watching the rest of the podcast. I have to say that you guys fucking rock. There are so many things that you both talked about that resonated with me in multiple ways. Noelan talked about the anxiety of being around too many strangers and it freaking him out… That anxiety is a real thing and not something to take lightly. The fact that you are so hands on with the guys you are helping blows me away."
